A Year with Merry!

No Wheelie Wednesday today, as, as Head of Hug I have intervened!
I have an important date to recall instead.

As one's bear years pass by and one grows older, time flies seriously fast!
It is hardly seems possible, that it is a year today, that dear Merry arrived from across the Pond.
My very first view of her in her travel box...Sent on her journey by Maggie & Mitch, she came 'Home' to me.
They, her kind American family wanted me to take care of her, as her birthright is as a Merrythought Bear in the British Isles; and they found her 'lost' in Woodstock, Massachusetts - how significant was that ???
Merry is a sweet heart bear - my very best friend...Just so glad you joined me!
Time for tea now...

A New Bear on the Block!

Am always delighted to learn of a new blogging bear and welcome him to our very select fold.
Let me introduce you to
Prince Hector...Sorry the photograph of his fine self is a bit, well a lot on the small size!
Anyway, when his original family moved 'North' recently, he declined to go and sort another 'Forever' home' and a new loving young Mistress.

Do go and say 'Hello' to them both - am sure they will appreciate it.

True Colours Thursday - APRICOT!

Now, last time we had this sort of shade, Mother stole Hug member Miss Peaches Bear off me for her post - I have reclaimed her & her APRICOT flowers for today...
Friends may recall, she, Mother went to a Teddy Bear Fair whilst in Brighton on her pre Christmas visit there without me - a great regret, as I would certainly, have chosen a more suitable new bear than Othello!
But, looking through her photographs of the event, I have found this one that includes a small APRICOT youngster...Why did she not choose him, he is rather cute!

True Colours Thursday - CREAM!

After the excesses of my Bear-day on Monday, CREAM, especially CREAM based drinks, I can bearly, bear to think about!!!
In fact, thinking @ all is still a little difficult!
I avoided the demon LEMON as in Gin & Tonic's after last time.
Instead, I tried Bailey's Irish CREAM Liqueur cocktails @ my pawty!
NOT, a wise move, in hindsight!
First, was this simple one over ice - Mother's Christmas favourite...
But then, I got more adventurous ...
It was called an 'Ultimate Mudslide'
30 ml vodka
30 ml coffee liqueur
30 ml Irish CREAM liqueur
45 ml CREAM
45 ml milk
1/2 banana
grated chocolate
Place all ingredients, except grated chocolate, in a blender & blend until smooth.
Pour into margarita glass and sprinkle with grated chocolate.
Woweeeeeeeeeee - was that good!

After that, maybe I should have retired from imbibing and left the single CREAM shotters well alone...Google's images do NOT do justice to any of the drinks, all enjoyable @ the time, but seriously potent!!!
As a consequence my only CREAM bear offering today, is from Mother, who took pity on me! She found this handsome one recently, resting comfortably in a Store...Maybe, I should buy him for her for Christmas!

True Colours Thursday - ORANGE and Happy Thanks-Giving!!

I kept this ORANGE Pumpkin lantern of yours truly, handsome self, especially for today - it seemed appropiate...My earlier Google Image search re ORANGE did produced this fine fellow having his own Thanks-Giving feast...And, Mother, whilst shopping, encountered this youngster in his ORANGE jumper with sweeties...So, all that remains for me to say now is...
Happy Thanks-Giving to my all friends across the pond!

Gardening Bears!

Mother, while she was away recently, went Garden Centre visiting!
Now, like her, I prefer to leave actual gardening to 'Wheelie' Bailey.
But, it seems Nottcutt's Garden Centre's have Bears a plenty, who like to garden...Even, fight with Rose briars...
Then, when done - hang out amongst the flowers...Or, try to sell them selves in pairs on a garden trug @ the 'Last Bear Stop' ie Check-Out point...Amazingly, Mother did not sucumb to any of them!
Hugs, from a dumb-founded bear,

True Colours Thursday - MAUVE!

Today, I am going to introduce Sunday.
Here she is cosily dressed in her MAUVE cardigan clutching a box of her favourite chocolates, she does share...Now, her start in life was not so comfortable.
Mother first encountered Sunday's identical cousins & maybe even her, piled high in a cardboard box and on sale in a Sainsburys supermarket, as Mothering Sunday presents, hence the name...She was sure, they would all quickly find loving homes because they were the softest, softest bears she had ever encountered, their fur being almost as delicate as a Chinchilla's, which you apparently can barely feel when touched!
Anyway, Mothers Day 2007 came & went.
The following week, much to Mother's surprise, she came across Sunday, already abandoned & languishing in Oxfam's charity shop.
She wondered what sort of mother gave her away her gift so quickly!!!
And, scooped Sunday up and brought her home.
Hug introductions to Blue Bonnet, Chester, Ollie, Blueberry, Mitch, Barney & Little Precious followed...Sunday settled in well, but complained of the cold, so her Pink ribbon was exchanged for the MAUVE babies coat.
When Miss Polly Pola arrived, Sunday mothered her straight away.
They are still very close and read fairy tales together...So, Sunday's story has a happy ending, like my own.

Fair Bears!

It seems St Giles Fair is on.
Mother went to wonder it around yesterday & again this morning.
I aked very politely if I could go with her today.
But, she shook her head and said 'No'.
And, explained the event would distress me too much.
Now, I have seen her photographs, I understand why.
Just look @ all these poor bears hanging around and offering love...
Apparently, they are prizes and waiting to be won!
Mother is no good @ any sports, let alone darts, rifle shooting or throwing @ coconuts or tins, however she did try to draw a winning numbered ticket for this fellow...
Regretably, he did not come home with her!
I just hope some of the bears find their 'forever homes', as life on the road with the Showmen must be unbearable!

A Rainbow Bear!

Mother has got a 'thing' about rainbows today!
I loved her photograph and since she seems on a 'high', thought I would do a Rainbow Bear search on Google.
I found this fine Rastafarian boy...He would have been very welcome to join my Hug.
I do like free spirits!
But, as a commissioned bear he has already gone to live with a Hillary, do wonder if that is Edward of Basically Bears H???
He was made by K.M Bears by Kerren Morris, who also has a blog HERE.
Think I will keep my beady eye on her.

Have a good weekend all Aunts, Bears & Pups.

True Colours Thursday - CHOCOLATE!

Today I was torn about posting - sigh!
As you know, I like to use TCT to introduce my Hug members!
But, then Mother showed me this fine family trio of bears...They are made of 100% CHOCOLATE brown leather!
And, are awaiting adoption from the Plain Leather Shop in Dreamingspires Golden Cross Shopping Centre.
Regrettably @ a £100+ a piece, even Little Bear will not be joining my Hug any day soon!

Hugs,

F is for...Fair!

Not my scene @ all, but fortuitously found, for todays alphabet letter F - I hate to say it, this foto of Fairground furries...Find my-self feeling very sorry for these St Giles Fair Bears.
It cannot be fun hanging around, waiting for a forever home!

Bears of the Heart!

Mother, does this Camera Critter's Sunday Thingy!
I was most concerned that she might post this recent sad photograph one week, so quickly claimed it for my use...Heaven help those poor souls.
Can't see 'Romance' saving them all from a life on the shelf!
