A Bear in a Box!

Sometimes, I have to put my paw firmly down.
The Postlady made a delivery today, a parcel.
Mother, claimed as it was addressed to her, it was hers.
But, I pointed out this, which meant it must be for me...
After a minor tussle, when I had to admit, I required her help opening the said box, this was our first sighting of it's bear contents...
Once I had turned Wallace over, it was obvious he was meant for me - see the name clearly marked on the envelope...
We quickly got a quainted, although his Americanised Scottish accent is a touch differcult to understand...
Then, he showed me his travelling companion - a Friendship Angel with her pup...
They were destined for Mother.
Who is the friend who thought of us both this Christmas time?
Why 'Aunt' BJ!
Many, many thank-you's.

Wedding Anniversary Greetings!

It is an important day today!
Aunt BJ's Cotton [second] Wedding Anniversary.
I just hope she recieves more that a cotton hankerchiefs!
Anyway, myself, John II [Aunt BJ has his twin] and Sam... And all the other Hug members want to say:-
"Happy Wedding Anniversary Aunt BJ!"

In honor of the occasion, Mother has promised to read to us all, a very special story this afternoon.
Apparently, Aunt BJ 'virtually' tossed her bridal bouquet of six red Roses with a a whisper of Baby's Breath tied with a bright blue ribbon to Mother!
That, caring, fun gesture firmly cemented their blogland friendship and turned it into the genuine thing.
But, there was more to come.
Aunt wrote 'The Runaway Bouquet' that hilariously relates how the bouquet actually made it to England via the mis-adventures of a ferret called Wicket to re-unite two lovers - Mother and gentleman friend Little Buddy!
It is now published in 'The Apple Tree', Aunt BJ's first book of short stories - Mother proudly has a signed copy.

Sunday Afternoon Tea Musings!

I was not going to mention the weather but it is raining again.
Hence, Mother is depressed and drowning her sorrows in wine!
She's heard there is now a 'Flood Warning' out on the River.
Not too sure, what that exactly means, but she is upset.
So, I invited Merry & John II to share Sunday Cakes with me.
'Sultana Fingerellas' all the way from Paris, France no less...
They were a late 'Thank-you' gift, after Mothers last 'cat minding' stint.
But, strangely she finds them too sweet.
Hurrah!
More for us bears.
Guess I should have invited Bob T. Bear, Esq over as he loves cake but it was an impromptu party.
I have saved 'fingers' for the other Hug members - maybe I will send him one too...But, before we - yours truly and Merry, could partake of ours, 'holier than thou' John II insisted in a quick bible blessing...
I understand that Aunt BJ's John is less pious.
Rather ironic really!
Mother who is not religious, has the saintly twin.
And Aunt BJ, who does go to Church, has the less Godly one.
Guess that is life!

Happy American Independence Day!

American 'Hug' youngster Sam was quick to remind me that today is his day, as it is the 4th of July!
Here we are together honouring the USA - sorry, I look so severe...Sam is rightly very proud of his 'Stars & Strips' hat...We both wish our trans-Atlantic friends a great Independence Day and long holiday weekend!
And, a special 'Hi!' - see I am learning North American jargon now - goes to Aunt BJ.
Sam also wants me to tell her, since she 'shipped' him over here, he has quite taken to British way of life!
Hugs,
x

True Colours Thursday - BROWN!

I had no problems with Mother's meme this week.
BROWN bears frequent my Household Hug in large numbers.
However, decided upon doing a co-ordinated BROWN bear post with Aunt BJ!
This is her John 1...
And, this is my BROWN boy, the day he arrived...
As you can see, they are very, very close cousins!
Mother rescued them both, last year from a warehouse in Kent.
And, then sent John 1 to Aunt BJ to watch over her writing.
They are Boyds Bears - a well respected bear breeder.

But, both are deeply devout fellows unlike myself!
Their, medallions reads...
"John 3:16
For God so loved the world,
That he gave his only Son,
That whoever believes in Him,
Should nor perish but have eternal life"

My John 2, quickly found Mothers 'Good News Bible'...
Now, it may surprise many, that Mother had such a book on her bookshelves, her not being religious.
Would you believe it, it was a Birthday gift!!!
Her old college friend, always devout, became a fervent 'born again' Pentecostalist, and decided to try and 'save' Mother!
A lost cause but I guess, good of her to try @ least!
She came to visit Mother, on her 27th Birthday.
Mother, being Mother, was equally intent on trying to broaden Aunt Prudence's horizons, so took her to The Mitre Inn, for a liquid celebratory lunch.
Probably, not the wisest of moves on her part, even though it is a highly respectable hostelry!
Mother had large red wine, Aunt Prudence a small milky coffee.
She, then presented Mother, with a BROWN paper package!
It contained the 'good' book.
Aunt not content with this surprise present, went on to point out, she had highlighted selected passages for Mother to read!
Amazingly, all these years later, they are still friends, if, somewhat distant ones.

Returning back to my John 2, despite his ardent bible studies...
He is proving a good natured fellow, so we get very well.
Never let it be said, my Hug is intorarant of differing beliefs & views.

The Magic Slipper!

I was a having a quiet afternoon nap today, when a 'Comment' from Miss Moussie alerted to me to the fact, that my dear Aunt, The Duchess, who has a delightful tranquil country home, had bestowed, a very special award on me.
Galvanised, my old joints into action, and went to visit straightaway.
I have been award the 'Shoe Award' but not any old shoe but a magical one, for those who enhance the lives of other's!
Was a little, no, a lot alarmed when I collected it...Cannot see myself wearing Cinderella's Glass Slipper, but accepted it, in the spirit it was given!
Aunt Duchess, described me as "a bear with the power to bring you to your childhood places!"
Am deeply flattered.
I like to believe I belong to the old school!
My intention, is to renew interest in collecting/rescuing Teddy Bears.
We are worthy and lovable and should not be causally cast asunder.
Mother & others, need constant encouragement and help to save us from fatal abandonment in unsavory places.

Now, I am to pass this special Award onto three magical individuals of my choice...
Miss Dilly, is a princess dragon, who takes magical trips!
Miss Asta, is a WFT of incredible caring class.
And,
Aunt BJ, is Aunt BJ, a writer of inspired, imaginative tales.
That was all quite exhausting!

An Award!

Am amazed!
Almost speechless but not quite!
Only been blogging a few days and already have an Award!
Must indicate, instant recognition of my superior qualities etc.
Aunt BJ, who writes exceedingly well; is quite a script HERE - has passed this one, onto both Mother & I..This *** Award is apparently, bestowed upon a fellow blogger whose blog's content is, in the giver's opinion Brilliant.
Well, I knew I was Good.
But, 'Thank-you' Aunt BJ, for recognising this, so early on!

It is much appreciated.

The rules:
"When accepting this auspicious award, you must write a post bragging about it, including the name of the misguided soul who thinks you deserve such acclaim, and link back to said person so everyone knows he or she is real.
Choose a minimum of 7 blogs that you find brilliant in content or design.

Or improvise by including bloggers who have no idea who you are because you don’t have 7 friends.
Show the 7 random victims’ names and links and leave a harassing comment informing them that they were prized with “Honest Weblog.”
Well, there’s no prize, but they can keep the nifty icon.
List at least ten honest things about yourself.
Then, pass it on! "

So, who, to Award - am a bit flumaged here.
Just gifting it to those, who show qualities I admire!
1. Edward - no explanation needed really, a Bear of my own class!
2.
Bob. T Bear, esq - lively entertaining young chap!
3. Dina
, charming lady - left me a comment on my Monochrome post!
4.
Maggie & Mitch, superior Aires.
5.
Molly & Taffy, as family, per Mother!
Would tag
Bear Naked, a human with Bear class, but @ the moment she has to to watch over Monsieur Bear.
6.
Eduardo, anyone who snuggles that much, must have a good heart!
7.
Asta, this sassy WFT lady, reminds me of Miss Judy!

And, now, let me see, what I should reveal about myself.
Am quite a private bear really.

However, here goes TEN [honest] random things about me:
1. I wear a collar, sadly with a bell!
But, the collar does help support my poor neck & the bell alerts Mother when I take a tumble.
2. My leather paw pads have water stains!

I suspect I may have gone for a paddle @ some time in the fountains of my birth place.
3. I prefer sleeping on my own - more den space to stretch out in.
4. Do not acknowledge any shortening of my name - consider it very bad form.

5. I prefer reading 'Winnie the Pooh' by A. A. Milne, to Michael Bond's 'Paddington Bear'.
6. But, definitely not that keen on Honey, far too sticky & sweet.
Much prefer Marmalade, though in truth, am more a savoury Marmite type of individual .
7. My favourite ever television serial is 'Brideshead Revisited', shown originally in 1981.
It is based on Evelyn Waugh's 1945 novel of the same name.
This choice is naturally because of Aloysius Bear!
He accompanied his owner Sebastian Flyte, a young man of good upbringing but a dreamer to study @ Dreamingpsires.
After leaving university they travel together in an open-top Morris on journey to Italy and other countries in Europe.
Aloysius is spoiled and neglected but mostly cuddled.
Have not seen the more recent cinematic version; must have Mother find a copy.
8. I HATE the cold & ice, even with my cosy mohair coat.
9. Am not ticklish, but have a sensitive spot in my lower spine.

10. My last wish is to be loved to death!
Done my best here!
Hugs to all,
