Time to Celebrate!

Happy Bear-day to me,
Happy Birthday to Sir Winston,
Happy Bear-day dear ME,
Happy Birthday dear Sir Winston,
Happy B-day to US!

There is no prize for guessing what to day it is here?
My Hug is fancy pawty hat ready as my invitations specified...
Yes, it is my very first ever my Bear-day celebration!
Mother, hiding behind her Venetian mask, wanted to make it special...But I fear she now regrets it's technicalities!!!
[Blue here, without the help of friends below re images all gratefully received, I would have done a 'Woodstock Regrets' post re this 'madness' on my part, as I have felt so unwell this weekend it has been a real struggle to get my act together!]

Back to me, the bear-day boy!
Not every bear can celebrate his day in such fine company!
My Hero, Sir Winston Churchill was born today in 1874 @ the Big House there in Woodstock!
And a 'wheelie' friend joining us is named after him too!
It fell to this wartime prime-minister, to cement my country's alliance with the US, where I now have many good friends!
The son of an American mother & an English father, his eloquence - yes, he was a fine speaker, with a way with words, just like me - endeared him nearly as much to Americans as to the British!
This oil portrait of him is by Douglas Granville Chandor 1946...
And this me, a digital photograph by Mother 2009...
Now, the pawty really can start, the caters have delivered!
My cake has arrived, not from the Shop but it is chocolate...And, my presents marched in...Followed by my many friends.
Master Buttons, smartly attired in business suit was first @ the door... The Rocky Creek Scotties were next...Followed by, Maggie & Mitch plus Miss Autumn and Kipper & Hazel...WFT's Miss Fergi, Jake & 'Wheelie' Winston...
Bob T Bear, esq came over without his famous pants on head...
Charlie Bear, Sally Ann, Mack & Taddy teleported across from the USA...And, Diva Asta as usual dressed to impress & took centre stage...Then played the piano beautifully for our dances and my Bear-day chorus...Before setting up a Las Vegas style gaming table to showing off her card tricks... Ginger Jasper in very fetching green, hoped the luck of the Irish was with him when he sat down to play poker against her...
And, we must send Greeting to his Dad, who has the honour to share his Birthday with little old me!

My personal guest of honour was of course, my lady bear friend dear Miss Rosie - we shared a private moment over a paw-martini, after I had reclaimed her from Master Buttons company - I think she admires a gent in a suit...She arrived with apologies from Aunt Misses Peach, who is still away on her honeymoon with Mickey.

Moving on, Mother has lite my cakes candles - look @ them burning brightly - I am not saying how many...
Everyone please take a deep breath, think of a wish & help me blow them out - one, two, three woooooooooooooooooosh!
And, may I say 'Thank-You' to you for all coming to share my day and making it so memorable, now, lets pawty some more.
Hugs,

Playing a Fun Game!

Aunt BJ recently did this meme and forgot to tag me!
But, being a forgiving bear I will overlook this grave omission of hers!!!
The rules were simple enough, erase her answers and fill in my own.
So, here is goes!

1. Who is the hottest Movie Star?
I think Bob T Bear Esq, I admire his productions no end...
While Mother - she insists on playing along too, goes for boring actors Robert Redford, or Colin Firth!

2. Apart from your house & car, what is the most important item you have ever acquired?
My rescue, by looking totally bearsome @ Mother, when she spotted me on that Antiques Stall last year.
Mother says Airline Tickets and lots of them!

3. What is your most treasured memory?
Being bought by Mother.
I was growing weary of being wrapped in grubby newspaper & deposited in a packing box by the Antiques dealer, only to be put on display again the next day in the cold.
Mother goes for meeting Little Buddy in Hawaii - this is in 1994...

4. What was the best gift you ever received as a child?
Baby Bear memories I do lack, so have to pass here.
While Mother was initially torn between her rocking horse & her garden swing, as both allowed her to escape into her own private world while riding / flying through the air for hours and hours on end!
But, she thinks the swing wins, as it was her greatest source of pleasure, almost a companion as an only child, strange as that sounds, for longer years!
She says, she sat on it, no matter what the season, Winter or Summer.
She swung HARD & HIGH, almost rocking it out of the ground, imagining being as free as a bird, dreaming of going to far flung places & telling her-self wild fantasy tales.
Even in her teens she admits to sitting swinging away whilst reading, and when her childhood home was sold, her only regret was leaving the by then rusty swing behind.

5. What is the biggest mistake you have ever made?
Letting myself get kidnapped from my birth palace.
I could be living in with the Duke of Marlborough!
Mother went misty eyed here & said despite all the wonderful meetings, failing in love with a married man in the 1980's & keeping the affair current!

6. Four words to describe yourself?
Me - Reserved, Faithful, Caring & Superior.
Mother - Shy, Loyal, Differcult & Moody!

7. What was your highlight or low light of 2008?
Back to Mother's rescuing me - it was a highlight!
She says finding me - a very good answer in my bear eyes!

8. Favourite Film?
Mine has to be this...
This fascinating documentary film, an all too short 55 minutes, sees Hollywood star, Ewan McGregor, in the 'Polar Bear Capital of the World', Churchill, Manitoba, Canada.
A place on our mutual 'must visit' list.
But, Mother still opts for 'Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid'
We both watched, it recently.
See her post here on her Films, Memories & Movies blog!

9. Tell me one thing I don’t know about you.
I sneak up @ night to eat any cakes & biscuits left about.
While Mother, says she wanted to be a Air Hostess, but did not have the figure or languages - hence maybe failing for a Pilot instead!

10. If you were a comic book/strip or cartoon character, who would you be?
Why, Rupert Bear- he has smart atire!
Mother - Fred Basset, for no reason, she just likes him...
Now who to tag?
Bob T Bear, Esq, as I'm sure he will have a lot to say!
Buttons, he & his Hug always have fascinating tales.
Aunt Peach>(^;^)< & Karla because we love them.
And,
Maggie & Mitch, as they are always up to play.
Hugs to all,

Postscript:
As the Rocky Creek Scotties were the first to comment we tag them too - the more the merry is what I say!

True Colours Thursday - PEACH!

I was, seriously upset with Mother!
Would you believe it?
She stole my Hug member, Miss Peaches to include her, on her post regarding today's colour!
When I protested, she said her need was greater than mine and I could always delight young Bob T Bear (Esq), again by wearing those PEACH coloured pants once more!
No way!
I have suffered, enough embarrassment in that direction already.
So, what was I left with???
My PEACH toothbrush - not funny...But, as a resourceful bear, I stole into Mother's Photographic Archives.
What did I find?

Why, a Jousting Tournament held in my birth Palace's grounds no less!
And, a gallant knight in PEACH & [purple] regalia... So, now, my post is far more exciting than Mothers!
Hugs from a cocky,

Happy 'Berfday' Bob!

I am none too pleased that Mother saw fit to send another photograph of me wearing pants on my head to young Bob T Bear Esq, this time for his 'Berfday Pants Gallery', now posted for the world to see on his blog...And, I will have you know, they are not PINK pants, that is a trick of the light - they are actually PEACH!
But, putting this embarrassment aside, I do wish the cheaky youngster, a very Happy Birthday!
Do hope your Chocolate Biscuit Tin is never empty...
Hugs ang Greetings!

Pants & Pawty Time!

Woke this morning, to find I had received an invitation!
No less than, from, young Bob T Bear, Esq; to attend a very special Blog celebration of his...
Amongst other treats, he has promised home-made cakes...
I was naturally, very excited!
So, enquired off Mother, if I would need any special Pawty attire.
Regretted, asking almost immediately.
She said - yes , wait for it, I would require pants!
And, I would have to wear them on my head!!!
Apparently, Bob, has a thing about frolicking with them.
There is even to be Pant Pen @ the Pawty...I was, more than a little taken back!
The things, these youngsters, get up to now-a-days!!!
But, never let it be said, that I am a stick in the mud.
Though, wearing a pair of Mother's Peach coloured britches, turban style, does feel a little strange to say the least...
I would have preferred Blue.
But, she is behind with doing the laundry!
And, I did stipulate clean pants.
Any way, as a good guest, I am thoughtfully, taking along my favourite biscuits, Jaffa Cakes - they have yummy Orange centres.

Also, another Hug member is attending Bob's pawty with me...
It seems Miss Polly Pola, is a old friend of Bobs.
He actually named her, saying she obviously, had Polar Bear genes!

Now, another Pawty requirement, apart from pants, it seems, is Jokes!
So, here we go...
Mother, also invited, is offering:-
Q: Have you ever hunted bear?
A: No, but I've been shooting in my shorts!
Q: How do you start a teddy bear race?
A: Ready, teddy, go!
Q: What do you get if you cross a grizzly bear and a harp?
A: A bear faced lyre!
Mmm!

Miss Polly came up with these:-
Q: What kind of money do polo bears use?
A: Ice lolly
Q: What do you call a big white bear with a hole in his middle?
A: A polo bear!
Q: Why is a polar bear cheap to have as a pet?
A: It lives on ice!
Q: What do polo bears have for lunch?
A: Ice burgers!
Yes, a good effort.

And, finally my own small selection:-
Q: What do you get if you cross a teddy bear with a pig?
A: A teddy boar!
Q: What's a teddy bears favorite pasta?
A: Tagliateddy!
Particularly, liked this one!
Q: What should you call a bald teddy?
A: Fred bear!
Q:
What do you get if you cross a skunk with a bear?
A: Winnie the Pooh!
Q: What is a bear's favorite drink?
A: Koka-Koala!
Hee-hee!!!
As the Pawty, is to be a weekend long affair, only hope my stamina holds!
Trust I will see you all there.
Hugs,

x

B is for Bear[s]!

Now, it was not my intention to blog every day, yet opportunities keep arising.
For instance I can hardly let this weeks A
BC Wednesday pass by.
The alphabet letter is
B, and what else can it stand for but Bear or even better Bears!

During the 2008 Summer Olympic Games, that smart youngster
Bob. T Bear [esq] held his own Paw-lympic 'Synchronized Bear Sittin' event.
Some of Mother's Hug participated, here's their entry...Not too bad really!
But, they were beaten 'fair & bear', to the Bear Gold, a little Blue Felt Bear, by Becky's bunch...However, there was much honey liqueur celebrations & bear-citement in my households Hug, when they were awarded by Bob, 'A Special Certificate of Merit' for their fur colour co-ordination...Bravo!
But
, obviously, we will fair much better next time, under my tutelage!
