Pudsey's Children in Need Appeal 2009!

I had a rude awaking this morning!
Young Pudsey grabbed my attention first thing, even before my breakfast...He insisted it was HIS day!!!

I went immediately to Mother re an explaination, as I do not readily accept this sort of conduct in my Hug!

She explained, he, Pudsey, is the mascot of the annual BBC TV's Children in Need appeal.

And, the principle fund raising events are today & on tonight's television.

Oh dear!

But, never let it be said, I do not know when I am in the wrong!

Now my Pudsey, is the original superior designer bear, but last year he was replaced by a brasher brother...Never the less he and 'Bro' have been 'Out & about' fund raising across the country - all my Mosaic images come from Google sources too many to credit individually...The charity's aim is improve the lives of disadvantaged children and young people across the UK.

Last year, the 2008 Appeal raised an amazing £38 million!

This evening Pudsey and I will snuggle up & watch the Children In Need programme together with Mother...It is seven hours plus long, so I wonder do who will fall asleep first???

Not me for sure!

True Colours Thursday - BLUE & YELLOW!

My first thought for this weeks colour combination was this pair of Art Gallery portraits of yours truly...But, then Master Bruge' had a word, saying he wanted his moment of fame.

I pointed out he had, had cameo roles on other posts and he is just BLUE...He responded by pointing out the BLUE circle with its 12 YELLOW stars, that he proudly displays on his chest...

I could not bring myself to say, that some might think them gold!

So, I graciously lost the argument.

The emblem is that of the European Community, who headquarters are in the Belguim city of Brussels.

Now, if you have ever worked out Mother's most frequently used method for the naming of bears, you may wonder why is he not called Bruge' instead of Brussels?

Well, Mother had a 'senior moment' and got her cities mixed up.

Still, the name Brussels might have reminded people of Brussel Sprouts and not everyone likes them, and I understand that Bruge' is a very pleasant medieval city.

Of Bruge' Bear, he tells that his first home was in a Hug consisting entirely of Beany and Buddy Bears, until all their lives were shattered by being cast into bags and donated to the Helen & Douglas Hospice charity.

With several outlets, his Hug was broken up and he with ended up @ their shop in the Covered Market, where he was fortunately spotted by Mother due to his bright blueness.
Bruge' now helpfully fathers our Hugs small Beanies and he has a soft spot for ticklish YELLOW Pudsey...Hugs,

True Colours Thursday - YELLOW!

I have only one real YELLOW bear, in the Hug!
That is of course Pudsey the BBC's 'Children in Need' famous mascot!
Mother wrote about his arrival @ the time, but I will quickly reprise.
'Children in Need' now a registered charity, raises money to 'make a positive difference to the lives of disadvantaged children & young people throughout the UK'.
This annual fund raising event, started in November 1980, but it was not until 1985, that host Terry Wogan introduced a cuddly brown called Pudsey.
He proved so popular, he returned as 'Children in Need's official mascot the following year with a re-vamped image, that of a YELLOW bear with a red spotted bandage over one eye!
Since then, he's gone of from strength to strength, sponsoring events large & small.
However, last year in time for the 28th fundraiser, Pudsey had a make over; ie a multi-coloured spotted scarf!
Mother subsequently found these guy, in their old colour scarf, donated by retailer Boots to the Helen & Douglas House Children's Hospice charity shop in town, she snapped the twins up...Thankfully, she did not keep both of them.
One quickly went to bear friend Edwards Hug.
So, when, I arrived there was just a single Pudsey to contend with...He's a cheaky YELLOW fellow!
